JA Southern Alberta (JASA) is dedicated to educating and inspiring young Albertans to succeed. JASA offers educational programs in the areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

The High School Program Coordinator (HS Coordinator) assists with the planning and implementation of JA high school programs in Calgary, including: the entrepreneurial Artist, the entrepreneurial Trades, World of Choices and, as a primary focus, the Company Program.

In Company Program, student teams experience the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship by starting and operating an after-school business, while being mentored by volunteer advisors from the business community. Several events are held during company program to supplement the core content and provide hands-on-learning to demonstrate skills developed.  This highly valued program has earned a history of success in the Calgary area for over 55 years.

Working as a team with, and reporting to, Program Director, the HS Coordinator will guide student Ambassadors and Liaisons and serve as a support for student teams, solving problems and inspiring students to successfully complete the program.

General Accountability

The scope of this position is varied and includes:

  • Coordination of HS programs in collaboration with the HS Coordinator, Program Director or CEO
  • Volunteer recruitment, training and support
  • Planning and Coordination of program events and training sessions including but not limited to the Business Development Workshop, Executive Training, Photoshoot day, Tradeshow, Awards Judging and Awards Banquet.
  • Communication with students and volunteers throughout the program
  • Liaise with educators, administrators, donors and other stakeholders as required
  • Work efficiently with HS Coordinator, Liaisons and Ambassadors


Coordinate all HS programs and events

  • Teacher marketing and relationship building
  • Student recruitment and school presentations
  • Volunteer recruitment, training and support
  • JA Company Program weekly newsletter and social media
  • Data entry, management and maintenance
  • Student communication, conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Student Ambassador recruitment and support
  • Event planning for events as required to support HS program delivery
  • Other duties to support other program areas, fundraising events, or development projects as required


  • Interest in and understanding of new venture development process
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Education, or related field
  • Program delivery experience, including facilitation and recruitment
  • Public speaking experience
  • Marketing and/or customer service experience
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and travel within Calgary and surrounding areas is required
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases
  • Proficient with social media
  • Monday – Friday work week with ability to work evening/weekend work as required for events, trainings and presentations
  • Experience with SMART Technology and/or Raiser’s Edge is considered a strong asset
